Vilnius. 27th October. The generated Lithuania international battalion of NATO will tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, said Lithuanian Defence Minister Juozas Olyakas.
“In fact, the Germans will come here with infantry combat vehicles (ICV), as well as with tanks,” – said Yu.Olyakas reporters in Brussels after a meeting of defense ministers of NATO countries.
Led by Germany, the battalion will be deployed in Lithuania at the beginning of next year to contain Russia, the minister said.
He confirmed that the battalion will be German tanks Leopard 2, but other equipment that will be brought to Lithuania, not detailed. It was created in Lithuania battalion of the 1000 – 1200 war and join Norway, Croatia and France.
International battalions from next year will be deployed in Latvia, Poland and Estonia.
