Moscow. 8 December. Interfax – Steps to reduce tensions in the Baltic region was discussed on Thursday in Riga with experts of the ministries of defense of Russia and Latvia.
“The parties discussed the current security problems in the Baltic region, as well as possible steps to reduce tensions and the development of bilateral confidence-building measures and transparency in military sphere”, – informed “Interfax” on Thursday in the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Defense Ministry.
The Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation said that the agreement to continue the dialogue between the experts of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Latvia.
As reported by “Interfax”, in July, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered to prepare proposals for the development of system-building measures that enhance aviation safety in the Baltic Sea region. Moscow declared its readiness to discuss in detail the issue with NATO.
The Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation in July said that to enhance confidence-building measures in the Baltic Sea region has been proposed a number of organizational and technical measures, in particular, the use of aviation between Russia and NATO videoconferencing enabled transponders.
